My first English class was when I was a cute and innocent 4 year old, in the kinder garden, which was bilingual, so since then I learned to speak English. But also watching TV, reading, writting, music and videogames, had helped me alot in improving and have a more extense vocabulary...

I learned by listening to music, all by myself. My brother used to know a lot of songs and I wanted to know more songs than him, so I began reading and singing when I listened the songs, then I started writing the songs I knew when I was bored in class, so without really wanting it, I learned the english I now know

Well, well; what can i say?, i began to study the english language at secundary, at the first time i didn't want study but when i need read some magazines or books of my school, or listen and see movies, etc i thanks to my mom for give that kind of chance.

I should say that i've never traveled to a foreign country (i'm mexican), so my english is not so good as i wish, (does it matter?). 

How Misanthrope said listen and repeat songs is wonderfull way to get the pronunciaton. so i wish to learn more about this language, but study german is now my task.

well, i learned with some english courses at differents schools and i think my english is very good though i dont like to use it very much .
But at school i learned mostly writing and grammar wich is really what im good at (i think). The pronunciation, slangs and stuff learned from TV, movies and music.

when I was six , (perhaps , I  don´t remember  very well ) , I grew up in Canada cause my mom worked there , I have five years living in mexico city , i just can say :  i miss Canada so much ¡¡  , anyway , I love my country and its funny to be here even when there´re  so many unpleasent factors ( pollution , poverty , and o lot of others things that makes me feel a little insecure .

I've been studied English for 18 years ago in my School, firstable in the elementary School then in high school and in University I Shoul study two languages....but I know the best way to learn, practice it, and be a professional in the language is living in a country where u would speak it all the day....by this way u 'll become a master....

Well... I learnd talking so I can´t write too well but 4 years ago I went to an English academy of Bays Country where I got "first" and "advantage".
When I was 11 years old I went to New York where I improve my english.
Now I´m in a new academy I´m looking forward to being in America agian so I need more english vocabulary.

Whoa!! I didn't know there were this many perople in this forum that were English speakers!!. In my country, English-speaking natives aren even harder to find than a Black Chinese !!. Anyway, my story is really weird, if you ask me; my dad always has put in my head the idea that I was supposed to make my University studies in the States, so he wanted me to be prepared from childhood. However, the kind of preparation he brewed up for me was purely academical, never touching the linguistic or social aspect of the move, I guess he didn't thought about it in the first place or he wanted me to do that on my own .

I did not realize until now but I learned English in so much of a sudden and unexplicable way that I cannot explain how exactly I learned the language; I didn't get cable until I was like 10 so watching TV is not it, I have been going to the U.S. on vacation since 1996 but most, if not all of the talking,  was made by my dad so that isn't it either, I didn't fully adopt the Internet until around 2 years ago and that's too much of a short time to learn anything solid so I guess that isn't it either; anyhow, it seems that I was BORN with the language or something . Now, when I am on the brink of this crucial move to the States, I don't know if I am completely prepared in the intellectual aspect but I know that in the social and linguistic aspect, I have nothing to fea r.

EDIT: By the way, it's really cool that there are such qualified English Institutes that really provide tangible, complete and positive results (you guys )!!!
