You're right Garuda, words that are the same in writing but means different things that can be understood by reading the context of the phrase, this is something that exists in spanish too and is called homonym, for example...

"Juan vino con el vino".
"No traje el traje".

I completely agree with you, guys. English is a really complicate and intricate language, especially for someone who tries to learn it at an relatively "advanced" age. I'd say that all this confusion is due to how English evolved. English is a result of a mixture of languages that was brought on by the Saxon invasion of England about 700 or 800 years ago. During that time, the Saxon and the Normands (who came from Northern France and spoke strains of Germanic) came to England and eventually their languages became mixed with the local ones (Welsh, Celtic and Briton, I think) and later, with time, it absorbed tidbits from other languages like Latin, Castilian, French and other European languages. However, English existed as a mainly spoken language and few gramatical rules and general control existed, so when mass printing came, all these rules were created in a hurry, resulting in the HUGE mess that English grammar is.

As Junikyu has shown, our language, Spanish, is far better constructed and fluent, but is really complicated, which is one of the reasons English is so popular: you can learn it relatively quickly and it isn't as demanding grammaticaly.

Hope you learned something today laugh.gif

it's just a matter of getting used to the uses of the same word, i guess it must be a bitch to translate something like that to someone with a really poor english background, but it ain't really that hard.

i love those nissin ramen soups, they're so good an unhealthy i think im gonna have a heart attac..............ughh.....i...shall be avenged........ 46.gif

btw, spanish might be more fluent to us, but it's also a bad excuse to act really cocky, i got away from the spanish forums because of some jackasses who think they're so smart just because they can write text book style, if you call that a fluent language i'd rather not speak it.
