yeah, im quite bored now.............just wondering how long have you guys spoken english for, and where have you learned this language...........

so far i have 4yrs of total english.. but all my life ive watched tv in both languages, so i dont know............ i lived in new jersey for a year, then i moved back to colombia, them i moved here to toronto 3 yrs ago... i remember it was hard to all of a sudden to learn to understand how ppl talk and their slang... thats the hard way but the best way....... then when i came here i still had a little trouble, and it just got better and better now i dont even have an accent, everyone thinks im canadian (thou im proudly colombian ! happy.gif ).. its amazing how it works out that way and 4 yrs ago i could barely put a sentence together !.. the only thing that kinda sucks thou, is that sometimes its days i dont even speak spanish, so is not that i forget it, but i just loose practice..

so whats ur story?

My first English class was when I was a cute and innocent 4 year old, in the kinder garden, which was bilingual, so since then I learned to speak English. But also watching TV, reading, writting, music and videogames, had helped me alot in improving and have a more extense vocabulary...

I remember when I was a kid in elementary school, among all the classes english was my favorite 04.gif, so from that point on I kept learning more by studying, reading magazines and books, watching tv shows mostly sitcoms; to which I'm addicted  04.gif...  playing video games, like rpgs that have a complex argument  happy.gif ... and of course by surfing on the net  laugh.gif

I learned by listening to music, all by myself. My brother used to know a lot of songs and I wanted to know more songs than him, so I began reading and singing when I listened the songs, then I started writing the songs I knew when I was bored in class, so without really wanting it, I learned the english I now know happy.gif

Well, well; what can i say?, i began to study the english language at secundary, at the first time i didn't want study but when i need read some magazines or books of my school, or listen and see movies, etc i thanks to my mom for give that kind of chance. thumbsup.gif

I should say that i've never traveled to a foreign country (i'm mexican), so my english is not so good as i wish, (does it matter?).  34.gif

How Misanthrope said listen and repeat songs is wonderfull way to get the pronunciaton. so i wish to learn more about this language, but study german is now my task.  laugh.gif

Whoa!! I didn't know there were this many perople in this forum that were English speakers!!. In my country, English-speaking natives aren even harder to find than a Black Chinese laugh.gif !!. Anyway, my story is really weird, if you ask me; my dad always has put in my head the idea that I was supposed to make my University studies in the States, so he wanted me to be prepared from childhood. However, the kind of preparation he brewed up for me was purely academical, never touching the linguistic or social aspect of the move, I guess he didn't thought about it in the first place or he wanted me to do that on my own 06.gif .

I did not realize until now but I learned English in so much of a sudden and unexplicable way that I cannot explain how exactly I learned the language; I didn't get cable until I was like 10 so watching TV is not it, I have been going to the U.S. on vacation since 1996 but most, if not all of the talking,  was made by my dad so that isn't it either, I didn't fully adopt the Internet until around 2 years ago and that's too much of a short time to learn anything solid so I guess that isn't it either; anyhow, it seems that I was BORN with the language or something wacko.gif . Now, when I am on the brink of this crucial move to the States, I don't know if I am completely prepared in the intellectual aspect but I know that in the social and linguistic aspect, I have nothing to fea 57.gif r.

EDIT: By the way, it's really cool that there are such qualified English Institutes that really provide tangible, complete and positive results (you guys thumbsup.gif )!!!

Well of course ... cough cough... of course we are qualified to provide the proper assessment and instruction to anyone eager enough to learn the English language. "We are here to help", thats our motto, or should I say.. I'm willing to help anybody who shows commitment and the positive mentality towards this challenge. It's not an easy task to accomplish, it's only by means of approaching the challenge of learning, with the right tools on a consistent basis, that REAL success can be attainable. As simple as it sounds, it requires a good amount of effort put into it, and that may be the hardest obstacle to overcome at the start.
We at Ingles Sin Barreras forum :p.. take pride in challenging our students, forcing them to go further at all times, increasing their capacity to master the English language through meticulous programs and exercises, going through all the levels of learning in the most truly enjoyable and rewardable ways possible.

Now run to the stores before offers end, only you can take the next step to a life changing experience!
