so far i have 4yrs of total english.. but all my life ive watched tv in both languages, so i dont know............ i lived in new jersey for a year, then i moved back to colombia, them i moved here to toronto 3 yrs ago... i remember it was hard to all of a sudden to learn to understand how ppl talk and their slang... thats the hard way but the best way....... then when i came here i still had a little trouble, and it just got better and better now i dont even have an accent, everyone thinks im canadian (thou im proudly colombian ! ).. its amazing how it works out that way and 4 yrs ago i could barely put a sentence together !.. the only thing that kinda sucks thou, is that sometimes its days i dont even speak spanish, so is not that i forget it, but i just loose practice..
so whats ur story?

I should say that i've never traveled to a foreign country (i'm mexican), so my english is not so good as i wish, (does it matter?).
How Misanthrope said listen and repeat songs is wonderfull way to get the pronunciaton. so i wish to learn more about this language, but study german is now my task.

I did not realize until now but I learned English in so much of a sudden and unexplicable way that I cannot explain how exactly I learned the language; I didn't get cable until I was like 10 so watching TV is not it, I have been going to the U.S. on vacation since 1996 but most, if not all of the talking, was made by my dad so that isn't it either, I didn't fully adopt the Internet until around 2 years ago and that's too much of a short time to learn anything solid so I guess that isn't it either; anyhow, it seems that I was BORN with the language or something . Now, when I am on the brink of this crucial move to the States, I don't know if I am completely prepared in the intellectual aspect but I know that in the social and linguistic aspect, I have nothing to fea r.
EDIT: By the way, it's really cool that there are such qualified English Institutes that really provide tangible, complete and positive results (you guys )!!!
